Welcome to Alzimm Kennels.

Stormy days at Alzimm
We get some stormy days here that are just beautiful.
The picture of Jody and Angel below, were taken in the afternoon. It really got that dark and several funnel clouds were watched nearby. And of course, winter is always beautiful here.

About our choices for dogs in our breeding program:
Alot of thought, planning, research and searching went into our choices for choosing our pack members for building our breeding program.First and most importantly, each one is very dear to us, very special and all are a personal part of our family.
We realize,as anyone else should, that no one person or kennel supplies the breeding stock for future generations. It takes alot of planning to bring together the right genetic mix, from years back,to obtain, healthy, intelligent dogs for future generations to enjoy.
Everyone (as common sense knows) has to aquire their pack members from someone before them at some point. It takes many different people over many dedicated years to produce quality dogs for future generations.
The ideals of a good, reputable breeder is to improve on the breed while striving to stay as close to the breed standard as possible (to keep the integrity of all the long hard years of dedication from breeders years back) which is a very important goal here at Alzimm.
We specifically chose the pack members we did due to the many, many years, going way back,of wonderful dedication and hard work of the listed famous kennels and world known lines that are present in our pack's pedigrees and bloodlines such as:
Mansard,Aurelius,Leonhaus,Jahnhohe,Leisdear,Hafjagerhaus,Hirschel,Wildsteiger Land,
Arlett,Batu,Hohen Erle,Dolimiten,Haus Beck,Polarkreis,BadBoll,Arminius,Kirschental,
Monchberg,Noricum,Vallee,Farbenspeil,Bullinger,Sofienwald,Tronge,Gletschertopf,Jasso,
Krompass,Lebarland,Buchhorn,Neuen Berg,Ulmental,Furstenberg,Wienerau.
Thank you for your dedication and hard work!

Why a 2 Breed kennel?
We are extremely pleased to have a 2 breed kennel and it makes life here at Alzimm so interesting! All of our pack likes each other and the traits in both breeds show in the others. It makes for very excellent temperament Shepherds and Goldens with a little more punch. Perfect combinations and compliments for both.We We get such a kick out of watching our shepherds dive into the water and loving it and our Goldens hating to get sprayed with a hose. Now who would figure that one? LOL

About Our name
Please note that the only puppies to carry our Alzimm name are those that are raised right here in our home ,with us. If your new puppy didn't come from Alzimm, raised (hands on) by us, with all of our love ,socializing and care included, then it's not an Alzimm puppy!
Why the Alzimm name? We did not look for someone else's name to use as we wanted to be unique. We combined Gene's wonderful Mother Alice's name (Al) With the beginning of our last name (Zimm) to get it.
Thanks to all of you who have been sending the wonderful pictures and emails of your Alzimm Babies !
The pictures can be found your puppy's Dames' Pages
The Alzimm Mission:
OUR MAIN GOAL here at Alzimm Kennels is to breed HIGH quality, intelligent, family oriented, dogs
that everyone can enjoy and love that have great pedigree backgrounds and superb looks.
Even though we tend to strive for rich pigmented dogs with breed conformation lines in our
breeding program, temperament and health are our TOP priorities.
Our puppies, having been raised in our home, with lots of socializing and exposure to children from birth to
being placed in their new homes, also have GREAT potential for working, therapy, and, personal companionship and
obedience training.
Training:Many compliments are given when at the vet and out and about with
any of our pack ,on their great behavior, which we owe the credit to the teachings of Cesar Millan.
His methods DO work and make for a happy, calm, pack order.Koda loves to go visit our brother in the
nursing home and has done so since 6 weeks of age.All of our pack are consistently worked with at feeding time to prevent any feeding issues and are exercised and worked with consistently as much as possible.Regular exercise is routine in our fenced kennel play yard and it's interesting to watch how each pack member goes in and out of their kennel run,on his/her own, when their turn is over.We especially enjoy the summer months here ,playing with the granchildren and our pack in the yard ,in the swimming pools or just relaxing with our furry family!
(Below-Gene ,Koda,Meisha and Kyler doing routine heal,sit,stand-stay and hand signal exercises.Even though
Gene has his own ways of working our pack,He is greatly respected by them all.The bond between them all
is something to see.)

Priorities:Gene and I take great pleasure in raising and nurturing our beloved family pets and have lots of help from our family. Our goal is NOT to make a big name for ourselves or to be boastful about what we have done with our dog family .Our importance and time is invested in health, temperament, having the best possible living environment ,love, socializing and care we can offer for our pack and babies so they can have a wonderful ,fulfilling life!Although most of our puppies are placed in loving family homes, they are still quite intelligent and have great abilty for working, therapy, and much more.
We are confident that our pictures show far more than thousands of words can and greatly appreciate all of the compliments we have received about them.
Puppy Nursery:All babies are born in one of our 2 heated puppy nursery rooms in our home. Each mother has a large warm, safe, split double kennel, built in each room(By Gene and Son-in -Law Derrick) just for raising babies in.The split kennels are 4' x 8' each (and bigger) having,2 entrance gates and a middle divider wall and doorway in between so momma has a place to go rest when she needs to "get away". All babies are kept right here in the house ,with us,until they go to their new homes.
Each mother has a "doggy" door ,in the nursery rooms, with access to a nice outside run for doing her business in safely and to also get a break outside for awhile.
Even though puppies are placed in crates for very short periods of time to help them adjust when going to new homes, all babies raised here are kept in large play areas and have plenty of room to stretch out and rest which is pertinent to good growth and mental stability.
Daughter Jody is our own official puppy, kennel bather and groomer and does a terrific job! Our son Kevin is our puppy and Momma sitter when we need to go out.The family gets a kick out of the lace curtains I made and put in the puppy nursery windows !!!
Gene is the major kennel cleaner and feeder and gives alot of tender loving care to all of our pack here.He has a very personal bond with all of our pack here and both Gene and our Dog family have great respect and loyalty for each other.
Below-One of our 2 puppy Nursey rooms

(Shown above-Meisha loves to walk through the divider wall doorway)
Our 5 granbabies (ages 5 through 14) are our major puppy socializers and make sure that all puppies go to new homes with alot of socializing and love that only young children can give !!! They love to help towel dry puppies after bathing too!!

Our Kennel:We have a nice old corn crib building out back ,that is still a work in progress, and has been transformed and is being worked on by Gene. Each pack member has his/her own outside, chain link run measuring 7.5' x 15' connected to a run inside the kennel building that measures 4.5' x 7'.The Concrete flooring is kept sanitized inside and out and each run has a large 4'x6' thick rubber mat for joint care and resting.Inside the building in each run is a wonderful all wooden large home (also built by Gene)to give each pack member a double protected ,inside, living space from all elements. In the summer time, alot of trees give great shade and swimming pools are provided for an extra cooling off time for our pack (Although Koda would much rather be sprayed with the garden hose.... LOL)We are always happy to show you our kennel when puppy and parent visits are made.
We are looking forward with great pleasure to this coming summer of 2009 when we will be expanding our kennel
on the other side by adding 5 new huge runs ,inside runs and housing and getting our building remodeled.I'm trying to talk hubby into a Koi pond but I may have to wait a while for that wish!!

Puppy Pricing:Great thought has gone into our puppy pricing and we do our best to offer our babies at the best price we
can for the quality ,time and expense in care given. We realize our babies are worth much more for the bloodlines and backgrounds they have yet want to make sure they are affordable to the right homes. No puppy leaves these premises with anyone unless they pass Koda's "inspection" .He has a superb sense of character in people and we trust his judgment.(So far, everyone has passed) LOL
Thanks for reading about us and we are always happy to answer any questions you may have!
(We are always happy to share our kennel information, goals and views as breeders with you and information on all is listed above. )

Some highlights of building our kennels.

These pictures were taken during our kennel building project, before Gene got the inside runs finished.Hopefully ,this coming summer,we can get the building painted and the runs on the South side done.

We know our Ethics here aren't the norm but they do work. The proof is on the character, health, loyalty and companionship from our furry family.
1) Yes,we give the best housing and loving care we possibly can to our furry families
and their babies.
2) Yes,we socialize our adults and babies and all are terrific around small children and can
be trusted.
3) Yes, we expect respect from our pack members and are pleased to say we have that
from all of them along with great loyalty.
4) We do not breed here just to get litters. Each litter is excitedly anticipated and
looked forward to.We always try to improve the breed as a whole.
5) Yes,we welcome visitors to our kennels and home for visits.
6) Yes,we provide life time back up and support to all new puppy families.
7) No,we do not stud out our boys at this time
8) No ,we do not show at this time. We also do not need to as we already know our furry family is
beautiful to us just as they are.Our time and effort is placed on care, interaction
and providing a loving home environment.
9) Yes,our fur family is worked with regularly and trained in our own way which
compliments and blends their family living with us all from our youngest granbabies on
up.All the training on earth doesn't hold a candle to mutual devotion, respect and a
natural willingness to please.
11) No,we don't focus on titles, shows,or bragging about ourselves and what we have done.
All credit goes to our wonderful pack and thier great abilty to "fit in".
No puppy is born titled. All puppies born here are very
intelligent, come from great backgrounds and have the potential for about anything you
want to teach them to do from showing, working, therapy, service, companions and
much ,much more.
The real test is how a dog responds in every day living situations..........
And Of course we won't expect the Goldens to achieve a personal protection level.LOL
12) We are in process of joining some dog clubs to try to make a difference in our breeds future and to help
others. we do have close bonds and contacts with
several well seasoned, wonderful, experienced breeders ,trainers of Gsds and Goldens with well
over 25 years experience or more each.
We greatly appreciate their character, honesty, love and devotion for the breeds'
betterment.(Thank you for your time and advice.)
13) We stay in close contact with out local vet who goes out of his way to help in any way
He can and we greatly appreciate his devotion in helping us.
We cannot stress enough how important it is to find a good, animal loving vet!
We are so pleased to have ours!
14) Yes vacinations, heart worm meds, wormings etc,are monitered closely and regular yearly vet checks and
more as needed,are done.
15) DNA profiling is in process and hip X rays are on the soon to be done list.
16) Health and temperament are paramount to us and are what we strive for.Our goals are
to provide well adjusted, mentally stable puppies that can cope with everyday family
life.We do not keep nor breed aggressive or high drive (working lines) dogs here as we
all to often see ones like those on the resale pages!!!
However, many of our puppies do have some play and ball drive making them easy to
train and are enjoyable for children to play with.
17) For over 40 years I have enjoyed raising and training several different breeds and thanks to my Great
Uncle Jack who passed on at age 42,years back,I was able to gain love, knowledge and respect for the
German Shepherd breed thanks to his patience, teachings, and love for this magnificent breed. Uncle Jack
raised and professionally trained many German Shepherds for Police work and many went on to be great
guide dogs.I am in the process of trying to recover archival information on his breedings and successes
and will happily share them with you when available. Thus, my love for this wonderful breed. So,even though
we are newer here at Alzimm (as a home kennel) and are still growing, years of understanding of the
German Shepherd breed are behind us.
18) We are more laid back here with a country home feeling and take great care to provide the best puppies
we can for the more than reasonable price they are offered at.We welcome you to visit ,contact us with
questions or stop in to say hello. We back up our puppies with the best care we can possibly give them, lots
of love and time and our written hip and health guarantee that will be honored if the need should ever
arise.(Hopefully it won't).
